Getting Started

Installation

Storm is a built-in unit that fits into a cut-out in your worktable. It splits into two sections: an upper section that holds the filter and grill and sits on top of the table surface, and a lower section that houses the fan and casing and secures underneath. Always follow the printed installation guide supplied with your unit.

  1. Choose a position close to your working area so dust is drawn in right at the source.
  2. Use the supplied tabletop cut-out template to mark the opening in your worktable, then cut to the marked line, leaving clearance below for the lower section and the side air outlet.
  3. Fit the lower section (fan and casing) up through the cut-out from underneath, and secure it to the underside of the table using the 4 supplied self-tapping screws.
  4. Place the upper section (filter and grill) into position on top of the table surface so it sits flush, and secure it in place so the two sections meet cleanly.
  5. Connect the figure-of-eight power cable to the unit, then plug into a wall or extension socket.
  6. Switch on and select your suction level using the dial.

Cable note: Storm uses a figure-of-eight power connector designed to be connected and left in place. Where you can, leave the cable plugged into the unit and simply switch off at the wall or extension socket when it's not in use. The connector isn't built for repeated removal and can loosen over time.

Note: Make sure there is enough clear space beneath and to the side of the unit for airflow and the side exhaust. Blocking the outlet will reduce performance.

Using STORM

  • Dial-controlled suction: Turn the power knob to increase or decrease suction. Use higher suction for heavier de-bulking and acrylic removal, and lower settings for lighter detailing work.
  • Even pickup, edge to edge: The dual-fan system draws dust in across the whole surface rather than just the centre, so you get consistent capture wherever you're working.
  • Run it throughout the service: Switch the extractor on before you begin filing and keep it running for the full service to capture dust as it's created.
  • Pair with good technique: Work close to the unit and keep the dust at the source. The closer the work to the intake, the more it captures.

Tip: Because Storm is mains powered, it delivers consistent suction for as long as you need it. There's no battery to fade mid-service.

Cleaning & Care

To maintain peak performance and hygiene, follow these recommended steps.

Grill cleaning

  • The magnetic grills lift away easily for cleaning.
  • Wipe with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth to clear any dust build-up.
  • Make sure the grill is completely dry before placing back on the unit.

Filter maintenance

  • Check the filter regularly for dust build-up.
  • Tap it gently to release loose particles. For a deeper clean, use a soft brush or a low-power vacuum.
  • Do not soak the filter. Moisture can damage its structure and reduce how well it works.

Exterior cleaning

  • Wipe the surrounding surface and visible housing with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Use only non-abrasive, acetone-safe cleaners.
  • Make sure the unit is fully dry before reconnecting the power.

Power cable care

  • Leave the figure-of-eight connector plugged into the unit where possible, and switch off at the socket instead of unplugging at the extractor.
  • Try not to unplug the cable from the extractor itself on a regular basis. The connector isn't built for repeated removal and can loosen over time.
  • If you do need to disconnect it, hold the connector firmly rather than pulling on the cable, and reinsert it gently until it is fully seated.

Fan and outlet care

  • Keep the air outlet and fan housing clear of dust and debris.
  • Never insert objects into the fans.
  • Always switch off and disconnect the unit at the wall before any cleaning.

Routine Maintenance

Keep to the two-to-three-month filter replacement schedule — this is also a condition of your warranty.

Inspect the grill and intake regularly and keep them clear of build-up so airflow stays strong.

Keep the side air outlet unobstructed at all times.

Make sure no foreign objects or liquids can enter the fan.

Keep the unit dry and the surrounding area clean.

Quick Troubleshooting

Reduced suction: Check the filter for dust build-up (tap clean or replace), and make sure the grill and intake aren't blocked.

Dust escaping onto the desk: Increase the suction dial and work closer to the intake; confirm the filter and grill are correctly seated.

Airflow blowing back at you: Check the side air outlet is clear and has enough space around it beneath the worktable.

Connector feels loose: Avoid repeatedly unplugging at the unit. Reinsert the figure-of-eight connector gently until fully seated and switch off at the wall instead.

Unit running louder than usual: Check for trapped debris in the fan housing and make sure the grills are seated correctly.

Filter looks clogged quickly: Higher client volume means more frequent care — tap clean between clients and keep to the two-to-three-month replacement cycle.

Important Safety & Care Notes

Keep liquids and foreign objects away from the fans and intake.

Use only non-abrasive, acetone-safe cleaners on the housing and grills.

Always ensure the grills and unit are fully dry before reconnecting power.

Do not attempt unauthorised repairs. This will void your warranty.
